Your New Role…
CNN is seeking a dynamic editor to elevate reporting and writing for our powerful White House and Congressional reporting beats. The ideal candidate will have a passion for political coverage, an eye for sharp framing, and desire to work with reporters to identify and execute on promising enterprise opportunities. The person must excel at editing breaking news on tight deadlines but also understand how to strengthen high-impact reporting with context, authority and nuance. The position will require you to stretch beyond just editing to how to make the most of images, graphics and video to give our audience the most powerful presentation befitting the story.
Your Role Accountabilities…
- Edit Washington news and continuing coverage from reporters and field teams as directed by Washington senior editors
- Work with reporters and producers to ensure stories are well written and complete
- Edit distinctive news features; elevate writing beyond simplistic presentation to ensure there is engaging narrative, critical context and key framing
- Craft corresponding materials – banners/headlines, social language for presentation on platforms
- Serve as a front-line editor of internal alerts and digital articles
- Serve as a partner to writers in shaping angles and sharpening framing of alerts and articles.
- CNN editors must be excellent communicators and diplomats. They are excellent providers of feedback who help elevate CNN’s journalism across a wide range of platforms.
Qualifications & Experience…
- At least 4 or more years of progressively complex related experience
- College degree or equivalent industry experience

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $78,470.00 - $145,730.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
