Brown Brothers Harriman is currently recruiting an Accounting Officer to join our Trust Company. In this role you will coordinate and administer trust accounts for various clients, with a focus on reviewing financial statements in support of the trust. This position interacts with clients, accountants, attorneys, and other intermediaries, as a point of contact for the book of business.

Join us as a Trust Accounting Officer
Brown Brothers Harriman is currently recruiting an Accounting Officer to join our Trust Company. In this role you will coordinate and administer trust accounts for various clients, with a focus on reviewing financial statements in support of the trust. This position interacts with clients, accountants, attorneys, and other intermediaries, as a point of contact for the book of business.
Some of your key responsibilities include:
- Responsible for preparing and reviewing internal and external financial statements under US GAAP, including group consolidation and the annual report
- Operationalizing core finance processes, including both day-to-day and cyclical activities, such as financial accounting, billing, and payments
- Strong communication, analytical and management skills
- Coordinating activities of external auditors
- Support the strategic development of the finance function by developing and implementing improvements to the broader organizational needs including in controls, policies, processes, systems, and reporting
- Developing and maintaining progressive finance and accounting solutions to support and enable the operations of trust
- Designing and implementing strategic initiatives and projects in collaboration with senior stakeholders across the organization
- Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process
- Supporting the management of the budget process
- Assessing current accounting and financial operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes
- Evaluating accounting and internal control systems through ongoing monitoring and sample testing
- Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax compliance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- CPA license
- 5+ years post qualified experience with 3+ years being in public accounting including provisions of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act
- Excellent knowledge of US GAAP and some IFRS
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
- Experience in building sustainable and effective stakeholder relationships
